TOURISM OF PAPI KONDALU


Papikondalu is a hill station in Khammam district of Telangana State,India. Papikondalu are distributed among Khammam,the entrance of Papi kondalu will be seen from Koruturu (West Godavari District). many people vist"s this place for a cool and pleasnt climate. Papikondalu are three in number situated like a wall in the midst of holy river Godavari.

March and April are the good times to visit this place for toursim.
Polavarm Project which is planned to be constructed across Godavari river on is considered to be a threat to Papi Hills. it would displace 276 villages of which
many are tirbal villages situated in Papi Hills
.

Teak, Arjun and Rose Wood are most commercial forest timber products. Very rare medicinal plants do also exist in Papi kondalu.


Histrory

The original name for this hill was ‘Papidi Kondalu’. Papidi is a rough translation for partition in Telugu. Since this vary looks like a neat partition that splits river Godavari, this name was coined. there’s also another concept the vary looks like a partition of a typical Indian Woman’s hair line. In due course, it settled for ‘Papi Hills’.
