Mahashivaratri Festival or the 'Night of Shiva' is celebrated with devotion and religious fervor in honor of Lord Shiva, one of the gods of the Hindu trinity. Shivaratri falls on the moonless night 14 of the new moon in the Hindu month of Phalgun, which corresponds to February to March in English Calendar. Celebrate the festival of Shivaratri devotees observe fast day and night and perform the ritual worship of Shiva Lingam to appease Lord Shiva.

There are several interesting legends associated with the festival of Maha Shivaratri. According to one of the most Famous legends, Shivaratri is celebrated the wedding day of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Customs & Traditions of Shivaratri 

Various traditions and customs associated with the fest of Shivaratri respectfully followed by worshipers of the god Shiva. The devotees observe strict quick in honor of Shiva, though several endure a diet of fruit and milk some don\'t consume even a drop of water.
